A Neuroplastic Approach to
Chronic Pain in Santa Barbara.
Retrain the Brain. Resolve Chronic Pain.
Structured, individualized sessions grounded in certified Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and evidence-based methods to retrain the nervous system and address the emotional patterns that sustain chronic symptoms.
Who We Are
Santa Barbara Chronic Pain Solutions offers a revolutionary approach to chronic pain treatment through Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a scientifically supported method designed to retrain the brain to interpret body signals accurately and break the cycle of pain. Our mission is to empower individuals to feel safe in their bodies, heal from within, and reclaim their lives from the grip of chronic pain.
Chronic pain doesn’t have to define you. At Santa Barbara Chronic Pain Solutions, we understand that pain is complex, often influenced by emotional, neurological, and physical factors. Through compassionate, personalized care, we’ll help you tap into your body’s natural ability to heal and guide you toward lasting relief.
Services & Approach
Our Unique Approach to Pain Relief is holistic, evidence-based, and tailored to you.
Determining Neuroplastic Involvement
Not all pain is neuroplastic. A careful review of medical history, symptom behavior, prior evaluations, and response patterns helps determine appropriateness.
Common indicators include:
Symptoms that shift or fluctuate
Pain disproportionate to structural findings
Inconsistent triggers
Symptoms influenced by stress or emotional states
Extensive medical workups without clear pathology
When appropriate, I collaborate with physicians, licensed therapists, and physical rehabilitation professionals familiar with neuroplastic and mind-body frameworks to ensure coordinated care.
What We Treat
Our primary focus is chronic pain.
We also work with conditions that may involve neuroplastic processes, including:
Chronic migraines
Fibromyalgia
IBS and digestive disorders
Chronic fatigue
Tinnitus
Balance disturbances
Sleep disruption
Stress-related skin conditions
Appropriateness is determined through careful assessment.
Our Approach
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a neuroplastic approach to chronic pain and related conditions. It is grounded in the understanding that the brain can learn pain — and can also unlearn it.
Our work draws from leading physicians and clinicians in mind-body medicine, including Dr. Howard Schubiner and others within the PRT community.
Chronic symptoms often persist when the brain continues to interpret signals as threatening, even after tissue healing has occurred. Through structured, evidence-based methods, we help recalibrate that response.
We focus on two integrated domains:
Nervous system retraining
Emotional awareness and processing
Services
The Initial Consultation is a structured working session designed to establish clarity and direction.
We review your history, assess for neuroplastic involvement, identify nervous system patterns, and begin practical exercises immediately. Emotional components that may reinforce symptoms are addressed with care and precision.
You will leave with:
• A clear understanding of your symptom pattern
• A personalized framework for moving forward
• Specific tools to begin practicing
• A realistic outline of what continued work may involve
Sessions are held in carefully selected environments based on your current tolerance. We typically begin where symptoms are minimal to establish safety and stability, progressing gradually as appropriate.
Virtual consultations available when appropriate.
Ongoing sessions deepen and reinforce the work.
This process integrates nervous system retraining with structured emotional processing. Depending on your needs, sessions may include:
• Somatic tracking and safety reappraisal
• Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) principles
• Structured journaling
• IFS-informed parts work
• Addressing conditioned fear responses
• Gradual, supported exposure to symptom-triggering environments and activities
Progress is intentional. We increase challenge in a measured, supported way, prioritizing steady improvement without unnecessary flare-ups.
